Dog Groomer / Salon Manager – Long-Term Position
We’re looking for an experienced, committed dog groomer who’s ready to take the next step in their career—and eventually help run our salon with minimal supervision. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants a long-term home, in a cage-free, stress-free grooming environment where the dogs—and the groomers—come first.
About Us
We are a small family owned, spa-like grooming salon with a relaxed, one-on-one grooming approach, working with one dog (or a family of dogs) at a time. We currently have three part-time groomers, including the owner. Each groomer handles their own bathing, drying, and grooming. Our schedule is staggered so that you’re often working solo or alongside just one other groomer, allowing for a calm, low-stress workspace for everyone. A grooming assistant is provided some mornings to help out.
While we’re not actively opening a second location right now, it is part of our future plans. With that in mind, we’re currently looking to hire a highly skilled groomer with management experience. This is a single position that is intended to grow into a management role. When we begin planning for our second location, we’ll be looking to this person to help oversee and eventually run our current salon independently with a team underneath them. We need to build something solid before making our next move!
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of professional dog grooming and bathing experience
- Management or leadership experience is required
- Experience working with special needs dogs—including seniors, dogs with high anxiety, and those with behavioral challenges—is highly desired
- Cat grooming experience is also highly desired
- A team player who is self-motivated, reliable, and committed to the long-term growth of the business
- Someone who thrives in a calm, organized, cage-free environment and aligns with our one-on-one grooming model
- Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset
- Must be able to groom a variety of breeds and handle pets safely and compassionately
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling, but your schedule must remain consistent once agreed upon
- Two Sundays per month are initially required
- No Saturdays
- We value work-life balance and want you to enjoy coming to work each day
- Because we are typically booked 4–5 weeks in advance, we cannot accommodate frequent call-outs. Time-off requests are always considered and approved whenever possible, provided you do not already have dogs scheduled that day.
Please note: We do not have the time to train someone who is new to professional grooming. Only applicants who meet the experience requirements will be considered. All references will be checked.
Pay & Benefits
- Starting at 50% commission + full tips
- Salary + commission may be discussed once a mutual fit is established for a management role
- Yearly bonuses and sharpening allowance after 1 year
- Uniform allowance
- Snacks provided throughout the day
- Long-term opportunity to grow with and help shape our expanding business
