Job Overview
Join our small dental family! We are looking for the missing piece to complete our team for our small private dental practice. We have one dentist, one hygienist and one front desk. We are looking for an assistant to fill in the gaps in our schedule for Wednesdays and Thursdays.
We are open 11am to 8pm Wednesdays and 8am to 5pm Thursdays. We currently have a wonderful assistant who cannot work past 3pm. We can accommodate a part time assistant willing to fulfill these hours completely or provide only evening hours from 3pm to close on both Wednesday and Thursdays.
We are looking for an assistant with experience, skills and a good personality.
Duties
- Assist dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside support and handling dental instruments with precision
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and radiation safety guidelines
- Record accurate medical documentation, including vital signs, medical history updates, and treatment notes in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information
- Support dental reception duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control policies
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and implant procedures
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision and safety awareness
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and patient care documentation
- Familiarity with dental assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and medical coding practices
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental hygienists, receptionists, and specialists in pediatric dentistry or other fields
- Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance with privacy standards at all times
