Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide high-quality patient care across various healthcare settings. Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring timely communication of any abnormalities.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques to promote safety and well-being.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and aseptic techniques in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Document patient information thoroughly within Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to ensure accurate medical documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in settings like ICU, trauma centers, or pediatric units to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Utilize appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment including bed alarms and assistive devices while practicing safe lifting practices.
- Engage in ongoing caregiving education related to geriatrics, behavioral health, infectious disease care, and other specialized areas to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR are preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for medical documentation and record management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices necessary for safe patient care.
- Experience working in various healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center experience preferred), long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health settings.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively manage patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate caregiving while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Prior experience in specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, or behavioral health is advantageous but not mandatory.
