Responsibilities
- Lead energetic walks with dogs of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring safety and engagement throughout each outing
- Follow specific care instructions provided by pet owners, including exercise routines, feeding schedules, and behavioral guidelines
- Handle animals with patience and confidence, utilizing animal restraint techniques when necessary to ensure safety during walks and interactions
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets’ behavior, health status, and any concerns observed during walks
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and ensure all dog walking gear is in good condition for daily use
- Assist with pet sitting, overnight in-home care, or special needs animals as required, providing consistent and compassionate care
- Support additional animal care duties such as basic grooming, feeding assistance, or kennel management when needed
Skills
- Proven experience in dog handling, animal behavior management, or pet care roles such as veterinary technician or assistant
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal restraint methods to ensure safe interactions
- Familiarity with veterinary experience or veterinary assistant skills that support understanding of animal health needs
- Ability to handle animals confidently during outdoor work environments and in various weather conditions
- Strong client communication skills to update pet owners on their pets’ well-being and walk progress
- Experience with pet grooming, kennel management, or heavy lifting enhances your versatility in animal care tasks
- Passion for outdoor activity combined with excellent customer service skills to create positive experiences for pets and owners alike
