The General Construction Superintendent leads all on-site general construction operations across federal, municipal, institutional, commercial, and industrial projects. This role requires a hands-on field leader who can actively participate in estimating and preconstruction while also managing crews in the field to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with safety as the top priority.
CMI is seeking a high-caliber professional who takes ownership of their projects, leads from the front, and wants to grow with a 30-year established company that is scaling toward a $15M+ annual operation.
- Supervise and execute general construction activities from mobilization through closeout
- Actively participate in estimating, quantity takeoffs, pricing, and preconstruction planning
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, and in-house construction crews
- Lead daily field operations including manpower planning, task assignments, and productivity tracking
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for constructability and sequencing
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and quality control activities
- Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timely material delivery
- Ensure all work is completed safely, on schedule, and within project budget
- Enforce project-specific safety plans and company safety standards at all times
- Work closely with Project Managers to resolve field issues, manage changes, and support cost control
- Maintain accurate field documentation, daily reports, and progress updates
- 7+ years of general construction superintendent experience
- Strong hands-on background in commercial and institutional construction
- Demonstrated experience in estimating and field execution
- Proven ability to manage construction crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
- Experience delivering projects ranging from $1M–$10M
- Federal, municipal, or institutional project experience required
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and accountability
