Fiddlershop – Pompano Beach, Florida
Fiddlershop is seeking a woodworker or craftsperson who is interested in learning the art of lutherie and joining our amazing workshop team.
Previous luthier experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is talented with their hands, enjoys precise and detailed work, and has a strong interest in craftsmanship. Experience in woodworking, cabinetry, furniture making, instrument making, or another precision craft is a strong advantage.
You will work alongside and receive hands-on training from our team of luthiers, instrument technicians, and makers. As your skills develop, you will learn to set up and inspect stringed instruments according to Fiddlershop's quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong woodworking or craftsmanship skills who would like to develop a long-term career in the violin trade.
As one of the leading providers of bowed string instruments and accessories in the U.S., Fiddlershop offers a collaborative, creative, and professional work environment. Our workshop, warehouse, showroom, and offices are all located in Pompano Beach, Florida, approximately 30–40 minutes north of Miami.
Responsibilities
- Learn Fiddlershop's instrument setup process under the guidance of our team
- Develop skills in bridge fitting, peg fitting, fingerboard work, soundpost fitting, and other aspects of violin-family instrument setup
- Assist with instrument maintenance as your skills and experience develop
- Perform quality-control inspections according to Fiddlershop standards
- Learn the proper use and maintenance of specialized luthier tools
- Work carefully and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship
- Communicate effectively with workshop team members and supervisors to maintain a smooth workflow
- Continue developing your skills through hands-on training and instruction
Qualifications
- Strong woodworking, craftsmanship, or other hands-on skills
- Experience using woodworking and/or precision hand tools is highly desirable
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform precise, detailed work
- Patience and strong attention to detail
- A genuine interest in learning the craft of lutherie
- Ability to accept instruction and feedback and work well as part of a team
- Dependable, professional, and punctual
- Ability to play a violin-family instrument is an advantage, but not required
- Previous experience working on string instruments is welcome, but not required
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
