About the Role
University Pain Centers, an affiliate of the Department of Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center, is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented professionals who take initiative, communicate effectively, and are committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you’ll work with board-certified Pain Physicians and Physician Assistants to play a vital role in supporting our outpatient clinics and ensuring every patient interaction is smooth, efficient, and compassionate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily patient flow and prepare exam/treatment rooms
- Perform patient intake: vitals, history, allergies, medications, and reason for visit
- Assist providers with exams and minor procedures
- Ensure all necessary reports and records are ready for each visit
- Accurately enter data into the EMR (eClinicalWorks)
- Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-ups as needed
- Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam areas and equipment
- Support front desk or other clinic functions as needed such as scheduling appointments
- Participate in quality improvement technology and workflow projects and weekly team huddles
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certification: Active CMA and CPR certification
- Demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and empathy when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues
- Experience: 1–3 years in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.
- Technical: Proficient with EMRs (especially eClinicalWorks) and basic computer tools
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
- Flexibility: Willing to travel to Chicago, Oak Park, and Oak Brook locations

Relocation: Must be able to relocate before starting (if applicable)
Pay: $18.27 - $22.19 per hour
