Responsibilities
- Thoroughly wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety standards.
- Maintain organized storage of clean dishes and kitchen supplies to promote efficiency.
- Support the kitchen team by helping with basic cooking tasks under supervision, including meal assembly and plating.
- Follow strict food safety protocols during handling, cleaning, and food prep activities to prevent contamination.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and other small appliances.
- Keep work areas clean and sanitized throughout shifts to meet health department regulations and safety standards.
Skills
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable.
- Prior food service or restaurant experience demonstrating familiarity with kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and proper food handling techniques.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to meal preparation guidelines.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff.
- Basic culinary skills including knife handling, slicing techniques, and food prep methods.
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Experience in catering or large-scale food production is a plus.
