Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Crane Mechanic specializing in Grove and Manitowoc cranes to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction equipment, with a focus on Grove and Manitowoc crane systems. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient operation of cranes and related machinery across various job sites. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on Grove and Manitowoc cranes, ensuring optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues related to hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, HVAC systems, and other crane components.
- Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, assembly, and modifications to support crane repairs or upgrades.
- Diagnose complex mechanical problems involving heavy equipment operation including excavators, forklifts, tractors, and other construction machinery.
- Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and welding apparatus efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Perform electrical diagnostics including wiring inspections, sensor testing, circuit analysis, and troubleshooting of electrical systems on industrial equipment.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with equipment calibration and alignment procedures to guarantee precision operation of cranes and related machinery.
- Support the team in heavy lifting activities using appropriate lifting gear and techniques while prioritizing safety at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding repair status and maintenance needs.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background working with OEM construction machinery maintenance is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in fabricating parts or components for heavy equipment using welding or machining techniques.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including cranes such as Grove or Manitowoc models; familiarity with forklifts, tractors, trailers and other industrial machinery is advantageous.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics for complex systems involving sensors, wiring harnesses, circuit boards, and control modules.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting transmissions, diesel engines (including Kobelco or similar brands), air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and hydraulic circuits.
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for accurate repairs; ability to interpret technical drawings is essential.
- Experience working with power tools such as grinders, drills, soldering irons; capable of performing welding tasks safely.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues efficiently on construction equipment servicing sites.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during maintenance procedures.
