A long-established wholesale sign manufacturing company near San Marcos, TX is looking for a hands-on Operations Manager / General Manager who can grow into the top day-to-day leader of the business.
We manufacture ADA signs, name badges, interior architectural signage, and related custom sign products using UV printers, laser cutters, digital cutting equipment, and other production tools.
This is not a remote corporate executive job. It is an on-site, practical small-business leadership role for someone who can manage people, improve systems, solve problems, and keep work moving without needing the owner to step in every day.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead and support an 8-person shop/office team
- Improve employee accountability, reviews, training, and communication
- Oversee production flow, scheduling, quality, deadlines, and customer issues
- Help improve pricing, job costing, vendor coordination, and workflow
- Build simple systems, SOPs, scorecards, and documentation
- Handle facility, vendor, employee, customer, and day-to-day problems without immediately escalating to the owner
- Work with the owner to make the company less owner-dependent and more sellable over time
Good fit:
- Proven small-business leadership experience
- Manufacturing, fabrication, print, signage, construction, service, or operations background preferred
- Strong practical problem solver
- Comfortable managing people directly and respectfully
- Comfortable with phone calls, customers, vendors, software, spreadsheets, and basic financial numbers
- Degree not required if experience and ability are strong
- Sign industry experience is helpful but not required
Compensation:
Base salary depending on experience, with performance bonus potential. For the right proven leader, there may be a future path toward larger responsibility, president-level leadership, or possible ownership/buyout discussions after trust and results are established.
