Weekend Residential Case Aide
Position Title: Weekend Residential Case Aide
Department: Family Shelter
Reports To: Shelter Supervisor
Status: Full-Time / Part-Time / Per Diem
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday (all shifts)
Position Summary
The Weekend Residential Case Aide ensures the Family Shelter continues to operate safely and efficiently during weekends by providing direct support to families, maintaining shelter operations, facilitating activities, assisting with intakes, and responding to emergencies.
Weekend staff play an important role in creating a welcoming, family-oriented environment when many outside services are unavailable.
Essential Responsibilities
Family Support
- Welcome weekend admissions.
- Conduct shelter orientations.
- Provide support to families throughout the day.
- Encourage participation in weekend programming.
- Help organize children's activities.
- Assist families with meal preparation and daily living needs.
- Promote positive community living.
Shelter Operations
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the shelter.
- Complete room inspections.
- Monitor safety throughout the building.
- Answer intake calls.
- Forward emergency situations to the on-call supervisor.
- Assist with volunteer groups and donation deliveries.
- Restock supplies.
- Complete laundry and housekeeping tasks.
Activities & Programming
- Coordinate family activities.
- Assist with educational programming.
- Facilitate life skills workshops when scheduled.
- Support volunteer-led events.
- Encourage resident participation.
Documentation
- Complete shift reports.
- Record incidents.
- Update resident communication logs.
- Document supply distribution.
- Maintain accurate records.
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with weekday staff.
- Participate in weekend staff meetings.
- Prepare detailed handoff notes.
- Support case managers with follow-up items for Monday.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in emergency preparedness.
- Cross-train in prevention, diversion, and shelter intake procedures.
- Attend agency trainings.
- Assist with community events when scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in social services, childcare, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Valid NJ Driver's License.
- Reliable transportation.
- Background check required.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
