DENTAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Requirements:
The Dental Assistant assists the Dentist, Dental Hygienist, and other team members in both administrative and clinical duties, as directed. The Dental Assistant must be an excellent communicator and educator, both with patients and coworkers. The Dental Assistant must be able to stand and sit in both clinical, office and lab settings, and some minimal lifting is required. This position does require exceptional hand-eye coordination and control, as well as the ability to see well, up close.
Educational Requirements:
Must have High school diploma or GED certificate. We prefer a diploma or certificate from an approved dental assisting program as accredited by CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation). One year of dental office experience is a plus.
Job Duties Include but not limited to:
Open/close office
Setup operatory - must know unique setup for each procedure
Effectively use established protocols for infection control, OSHA and HIPAA
Efficiently use practice management software, and all other office technology
Actively assist dentist during procedures and exams, keeping the patient’s comfort a priority
Effectively communicate with patients from the time they arrive until they leave
Must be able to accurately and timely enter chart notes according to established protocol
Take xrays
Make temporaries
Prepare lab cases
Assist other departments as needed – be willing to cross train on other jobs
Keep operatories full and productive
Proactively contact unscheduled patients when there are last minute openings in schedule
Assist with inventory control and ensure rooms are stocked appropriately
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies
Attend training as required
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
