Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT
- Promote, expand, and support a safety culture across all departments in a manufacturing facility, distribution center, and laboratories
- Provide safety supplies as needed, order supplies to maintain in-plant inventory
- Conduct safety orientation of new employees
- Conduct formal classroom training, as well informal training during plant-wide or specific department safety meetings
- Develop and maintain Lock Out / Tag procedures
- Conduct annual review and audit of each Lock Out / Tag Out procedure
- Participate in / lead safety incident investigations
- Participate in / lead weekly safety audits
- Write incident investigation reports and audit reports
- Analyze safety metrics and trends and recommend corrective actions
- Follow up on open action items from investigation reports and audits
- Conduct monthly safety inspections
- Join the First Aid Team, eventually becoming the First Aid Team administrative leader
- Join the Safety Committee, eventually becoming committee chairman
- Develop and revise OSHA required and recommended plans, procedures, and training programs
- Review and maintain HMIS ratings for products and raw materials
- Maintain copies of Safety Data Sheets
- Assist in / develop new and revised Pecora product SDSs and EHS information for Pecora labels
- Revise the Pecora Safety & Health Manual
- Grow into other EHS areas including:
- Health related issues, including Industrial Hygiene, Noise Monitoring, Respirator Program, Heat Stress
- Environmental Compliance, including Air Permit, Stormwater, and Waste Management
- Hazardous Material Transportation
- Workers Compensation
- Other tasks / projects as assigned
Desired Duties:
- Must maintain an excellent knowledge of OSHA regulations and determine applicability to Pecora
- Also remain familiar with other applicable regulations including US DOT, EPA, PA DEP, NFPA
- Must keep informed of new and revised safety regulations and OSHA Emphasis Programs
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to understand basic mechanical terms and requirements, such as for Lock Out / Tag Out procedures and audits
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to develop timelines and meet deadlines
- Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be flexible and adaptable
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and able to lift packages weighing 20-25 pounds
Education and Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Safety, Chemical, or Engineering-related field preferred, but will consider equivalent relevant experience
- Safety or EHS Professional with three to five years’ experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility
Preference will be given to candidates with ergonomic experience in office and industrial plant environments, and who can work to reduce the risk of injuries from repetitive motion activities.
