Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Battery Technician to support battery processing, testing, and production operations at our Sugar Land, TX facility.
This role is responsible for inspecting, testing, assembling, and processing EV battery modules while ensuring quality, safety, and operational standards are consistently met. The Battery Technician will use testing equipment, power tools, forklifts, and company software systems to support battery evaluation, inventory tracking, and production activities.
The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, assembly, equipment operation, or technical production environments and thrives in a fast-paced workplace that values accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Due to business needs, employees may occasionally be required to work overtime and/or Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect battery modules and work-in-process (WIP) materials according to established quality and safety standards
- Perform battery testing, charging, capacity verification, and data collection activities
- Load and unload battery modules into testing equipment and storage containers
- Monitor testing processes and promptly report abnormalities or equipment issues
- Accurately record testing results, inventory movements, and operational data using company software systems
- Maintain traceability and documentation of all testing and production activities
- Operate power tools, hand tools, testing equipment, and material handling equipment safely and effectively
- Prepare materials, components, and finished products for shipment
- Verify quantities, labeling, packaging, and shipping documentation accuracy
- Organize and maintain inventory in designated warehouse locations
- Support inventory counts, material tracking, and reporting activities
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations and warehouse areas
- Operate forklifts and other approved material handling equipment
- Follow all company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures
- Complete required certifications, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, equipment operation, battery processing, or related technical environments
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other digital workplace tools
- Ability to learn and effectively use company software applications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in warehouse and production environments, including standing, walking, and repetitive movements
- Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with lithium-ion batteries, EV battery systems, or energy storage technologies
- Forklift certification or operating experience
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Operational Excellence practices (5S, Kaizen, etc.)
- Experience using inventory, manufacturing, or testing management systems
