Schaefer Plastics is seeking a hands-on Mold Technician to support our injection molding operation. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining injection molds, auxiliary equipment, and related facility systems. The Mold Technician will also assist with mold changes, preventive maintenance, work orders, and continuous improvement efforts to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molds, auxiliary equipment, and related production equipment.

Assist with mold changes on injection molding machines.

Operate shop equipment including milling machines, band saws, drill presses, lathes, welders, torches, electrical testers, and other tools as needed.

Use a wide variety of powered and non-powered hand tools to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.

Support facility maintenance needs including water, compressed air, electrical supply, and other plant services.

Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules or as directed by leadership.

Complete assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner.

Identify and communicate the need for spare parts, replacement parts, tools, or additional resources.

Read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD files as needed.

Document work performed, activities completed, observations, and any equipment concerns.

Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and housekeeping standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Participate in continued training as required.

Support overtime needs as required by business demands.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with injection molds preferred.

Experience troubleshooting and repairing injection molds and auxiliary equipment strongly preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude required.

Working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and basic computer use required.

Ability to read 2D and 3D CAD files.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritize work, troubleshoot issues, and communicate equipment concerns clearly.

Must be dependable, punctual, and able to support production needs.

Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.

Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to bend, reach, climb, kneel, and work around manufacturing equipment as needed.

Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, machinery, tools, and moving equipment.
This position works in a manufacturing and maintenance environment supporting injection molding operations. The role requires hands-on work around machines, molds, shop equipment, tools, and facility systems. Safety, communication, and attention to detail are critical to success in this position.
