Town of Centreville – Department of Public Works
The Town of Centreville is seeking a skilled and motivated Utility Worker II or III to join the Department of Public Works. This position performs skilled to senior-skilled work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s water and sewer systems, streets, and storm drains, while assisting in leading work crews and supporting daily public works operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with and lead crews repairing water and sewer services, storm drains, and water meters
Perform street maintenance, ditch cleaning, snow removal, and infrastructure repairs
Operate equipment including medium-weight trucks, backhoes, sewer jetters, jackhammers, air compressors, and other tools
Support installation of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters (Utility Worker III level)
Help maintain vehicles and equipment and ensure safe operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver’s license required for all level positions; CDL required for higher-level positions
Experience in public works, utilities, construction, or heavy equipment operation preferred
Mechanical aptitude and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Dependable, punctual, and able to lead and work well with others
Hiring Level:
Candidates may be hired as Utility Worker II or III depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
