E&L Paving and Construction is a small business in La Porte, IN. We are fast-paced and our goal is to E&L Paving and Construction is a well-established family-owned business with over 40 years of experience – working primarily for the railroad industry. Specializing in commercial paving, excavation, and site preparation, we also have a crushing division offering aggregates for pickup or delivery. Our scope includes most of Northern to Central Indiana, Southwest Michigan and the Chicago Metro area and surrounding communities. Our railroad experience includes excavating for new tracks, preparing subbase with compacted aggregate, building & installing tracks, turnouts, and concrete tub crossing installation, complete track removal, excavation, and paving. We also have many years as a commercial excavation contractor, working closely with General Contractors to achieve complete site preparation, foundation digs, survey, and grading expertise. We also provide trucking services for both materials and equipment. Winter months include snow removal and salt application.
Truck Driver Job Description
We are looking for a licensed truck driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade for our crews or directly to our customers. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as working closely with our team of dispatchers in order to plan routes and track deliveries.
A Class A CDL or commercial driver license is required and preferred or at least a Class B CDL. Successful candidates must have a clean driving record and must pass a drug and alcohol test.
Truck Driver Responsibilities:
· Maintain an up-to-date CDL physical
· Record cargo deliveries & prepare relevant paperwork and reports as needed.
- Refuel and clean vehicle.
- Report road incidents to supervisors.
- Follow traffic laws.
- Inspect trucks and record issues daily prior to placing on road.
- Follow accident procedures.
- Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
- Get loads to the client timely.
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
- Keep commercial driver license up to date.
Truck Driver Requirements:
- Class A CDL or Class B commercial driver license.
- Current CDL physical card.
- Drive with a lowboy trailer and operate heavy machines.
- Must pass drug and alcohol test.
- Must have clean driving record.
- Must provide current MVR.
- Must provide a medical certificate.
- High school diploma.
