- Skills Needed: Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of ocular anatomy.
Optician - professionals who specialize in fitting and dispensing eyewear.
- Core Responsibilities: Help patients choose the best frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and facial features. Take precise facial measurements (e.g., pupillary distance), verify that finished eyeglasses match the doctor's prescription, and adjust or repair frames.
- Skills Needed: Fashion and style consultation, technical knowledge of lens materials and coatings, and sales experience.
Receptionist / Front Desk-The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and sets the tone for the practice.
- Core Responsibilities: Answer phones, schedule and confirm appointments, verify vision and medical insurance benefits, collect copayments, and maintain electronic health records (EHR).
- Skills Needed: Excellent customer service, organizational skills, and proficiency with medical scheduling software
