The Senior Manager for Network Services leads teams of network engineering professionals responsible for the delivery, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise network services supporting the University of Missouri–Columbia, MU Health Care, and University of Missouri System.
This position is responsible for leading these teams, informing long-term network strategy, ensuring the availability, security, and performance of critical network services, and driving technology modernization initiatives. The Senior Manager partners closely with institutional leadership, security, infrastructure, application, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure network services that support the university’s academic, research, and healthcare missions.
Key Responsibilities include:
Manage departmental personnel, resources, priorities, and activities to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing network services.- Lead the planning, implementation, and support of network infrastructure projects, technology upgrades, and operational initiatives.
- Ensure network services meet established objectives for availability, performance, capacity, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with IT leadership, architecture, security, and other technology teams to execute technology roadmaps, provide operational expertise, and inform future network investments and priorities.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve operational processes, standards, and service delivery practices to increase efficiency, consistency, and service quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and institutional leaders to understand requirements, communicate priorities, and ensure services align with organizational needs.
- Lead response and recovery efforts during service interruptions and critical incidents; oversee root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities to reduce risk and recurring issues.
- Manage employee performance, professional development, workforce planning, and departmental training resources; coach and mentor staff to support growth, engagement, and succession planning.
- Assist with budget development, vendor management, contract oversight, and resource planning to support departmental goals and service commitments.
