American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric Gastroenterology or Nephrology outpatient clinic position requiring 2 years of acute care pediatrics experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Outpatient pediatric specialty clinic setting with 13 specialties and 55 exam rooms across the facility
-
Travelers are placed in one of two specialty areas: Peds GI or Peds Nephrology
-
Peds GI: Two suites with 14 combined exam rooms, up to 20 MDs/APPs, and up to 40 patients per day
-
Peds Nephrology: 15 exam rooms, 7 MDs and 1 APP, and up to 25 patients per day
-
Patient population is primarily newborns through age 18, with some patients seen through college graduation
-
Peds GI diagnoses include constipation, reflux, G-tube management, IBD, Crohn's disease, colitis, motility disorders, TPN-dependent patients, and pre/post liver transplant
-
Peds Nephrology diagnoses include pre/post kidney transplant, CKD, adrenal diseases, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and follow-up for inpatient dialysis patients

EMR: Epic (experience highly preferred)

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule; no weekends, no on-call

No floating required

Facility is closed on major holidays; no holiday rotation required

Active NC or compact RN license required

BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of acute care pediatrics experience required

Ambulatory or outpatient clinic experience strongly preferred

Skills required include port access, CVL draws, patient rooming, and discharge education
-
POC testing experience required: Rapid Strep and Flu/COVID testing for both specialties; UA with urine microscopy for Peds Nephrology

Epic EMR experience highly preferred

At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility

Responsibilities include rooming patients, performing POC testing, assisting with departure education following provider visits, and processing Rx refills using standing orders
-
May assist with administering vaccines, injectable medications, and biologic injectables; training available for biologics if candidate is interested
-
Triage is not expected, though candidates may assist peer RNs with form completion
-
Supported by a team including peer RNs, MAs, front desk staff, clinical leadership, a live answer team, on-site lab, radiology, dietician, and social worker — MAs assist with rooming and POC testing
-
On-site orientation length is based on individual skillset and comfort level, up to 2 weeks; new employee orientation (NEO) is conducted off-site
