Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to own the full HR function for our single-site operation. This is a stand-alone generalist-manager role: you will run day-to-day HR end to end — recruiting, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits, employee relations, and California compliance — while partnering closely with the General Manager and shop-floor leadership. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is fluent in California employment law.
Timing note: This is a planned transition, and continuity is the priority — the successful candidate will train directly alongside our outgoing HR Manager, with hands-on Vensure payroll training front and center, to ensure a smooth, thorough handoff. Immediate availability is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Process and coordinate payroll through the company PEO (Vensure), including timekeeping, new-hire setup, changes, and terminations — on-time payroll is the first responsibility of this role.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting and onboarding for both shop-floor (hourly) and office (salaried) positions.
- Administer employee benefits, including open enrollment, eligibility, and day-to-day employee support.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations — conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with California and federal employment law, including wage-and-hour rules, meal/rest-break requirements, leave laws (CFRA, paid sick leave), and PAGA exposure management.
- Maintain accurate personnel records, I-9 / E-Verify files, and HRIS data with strict confidentiality.
- Administer workers’ compensation claims and partner with operations on Cal/OSHA safety recordkeeping and training compliance.
- Own performance-management cycles, the employee handbook, and HR policy updates.
- Support ITAR U.S.-person verification and related personnel and training records.
Pay: $88,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
