Firetech Sprinkler Corp. is a locally owned fire sprinkler specialty contractor with 25 employees. We have been in business for over 34 years, performing work through our two divisions - a contract division responsible for new installations and large renovations and a service division that performs inspections, testing and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
At Firetech Sprinkler Corp. the Controller is a key member of the management team and is responsible for the overall financial management, accounting operations and human resources administration of the company. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, payroll, employee benefits, retirement plans, company insurance programs, onboarding, and compliance.
Working closely with the President/Owner, Responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Accounting
- Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job cost accounting
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
- Develop and monitor company budgets and forecasts
- Manage cash flow and banking relationships
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare financial reports for ownership
- Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax preparation and annual reviews
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Construction Industry Administration
- Monitor project profitability and job costing for fire sprinkler construction projects
- Track project billing, retainage, change orders, and collections
Payroll Administration
- Work with outside payroll administrator to:
- Process bi-weekly payroll
- Ensure proper withholding, tax reporting, and payroll compliance
- Manage employee timekeeping and labor allocation
- Prepare payroll reports and quarterly payroll tax filings
- Maintain employee payroll records and confidentiality
Human Resources Management
- Coordinate employee onboarding activities
- Maintain new hire documentation and employee handbook policies and procedures
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR records
- Support employee relations and address routine HR matters
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
Employee Benefits & Retirement Administration
- Work with outside benefits consultant to administer health, dental, vision and family and medical leave benefit programs
- Serve as a liaison with benefit providers and brokers
- Assist with annual benefits enrollment and employee communications
- Administer company retirement plans, including 401(k) enrollments, contributions, and compliance reporting
- Assist employees with benefit questions and issue resolution
Insurance & Risk Management
- Work with outside insurance consultant to manage all company insurance programs
- Coordinate annual insurance renewals
- Manage workers' compensation claims and reporting
- Maintain certificates of insurance
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations
- Coordinate audits and regulatory reporting requirements
- Recommend and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Recommend process improvements and operational efficiencies including assessing various software integrations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience
- Experience within construction or specialty trades preferred.
- Experience with human resources administration and payroll management
- Knowledge of construction job costing and project accounting strongly preferred
- Experience managing employee benefits, retirement plans, and insurance programs

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
