Job Summary
Trinity Christian School is seeking a compassionate, Christ-centered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to oversee the daily health and wellness of our students. The School Nurse provides professional nursing care, administers medications, manages student health plans, responds to medical emergencies, and partners with families to create a safe and healthy learning environment.
The ideal candidate has experience caring for students with chronic medical conditions, particularly Type 1 Diabetes, and demonstrates a genuine love for children while modeling Christian values in all interactions.
Duties
- Student Health Care
- Provide daily nursing care to students with illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions.
Diabetes Management (Required)
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in caring for students with Type 1 Diabetes.
- Monitor blood glucose levels and Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs).
- Administer insulin according to physician orders and Diabetes Medical Management Plans (DMMPs).
- Recognize and respond appropriately to hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
- Administer glucagon or emergency medications when required.
- Collaborate with parents, physicians, and school staff regarding diabetes care plans.
Health Planning
- Develop and maintain Health Care Plans for students with medical needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student health concerns.
- Maintain confidential health records in compliance with applicable laws.
- Coordinate with administration regarding student medical accommodations.
Staff Support
- Assist with health screenings and wellness initiatives.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with state regulations and school policies.
- Ensure proper storage and documentation of medications.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning.
- Assist administration with health-related policies and procedures.
- Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and school policy.
- Maintain accurate medication logs and student health records.
- Assess student health concerns and determine appropriate care or parent notification.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Monitor and enter immunization and health records in accordance with Florida requirements.
- Maintain and restock first aid and emergency medical supplies.
Requirements
- Required
- Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in good standing.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a school nurse.
- Pediatric nursing experience.
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Experience with insulin pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems.
- Knowledge of Florida school health regulations.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Documented experience caring for patients with Type 1 Diabetes, including insulin administration and blood glucose management.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
