Overview:
Located in Port Jefferson, the St. Charles Campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital combines advanced clinical expertise with a longstanding commitment to compassionate care. The campus has earned both a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade “A” and a CMS 5-Star Quality Rating and is known for its excellence in Maternal/Child Services, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, Bariatric Surgery, and Emergency Care.
At the St. Charles Campus, we provide compassionate care for our patients dealing with addictions, and detoxification is the first step in recovery. Up to 20 hospital beds are dedicated to medically supervised detoxification to help reduce the physiological and psychological risks for our patients. As a licensed acute care hospital, we can manage complex medical conditions.
We currently have an adult program serving those aged 18 and older and an adolescent program for teens aged 12 to 18. This unit is designated for acute inpatient substance abuse treatment services, which includes providing 24-hour nursing care and observation of patients who are detoxing from drugs and alcohol. When going through alcohol or drug detoxification, some individuals may experience severe withdrawal symptoms that require inpatient medical services.

Our Medical Withdrawal (Alcohol & Drug Detox) RNs:

Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and manage overall care for patients actively withdrawing from various substances.

Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, registered nurses (RN), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support and education.
Qualifications:

Passion for Chemical Dependency/Addictions Nursing
- 1+ Years working RN experience strongly preferred
- Previous RN experience working with psychiatric, addictions, or med-surg patient populations preferred

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred

Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration

Certification: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
Posted Salary Range: USD $54.97 - USD $64.20 /Hr. :
