Logistics Coordinator
Successful and growing global importer and food manufacturer headquartered in the Mohawk Valley is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to work closely with the Sales and Operations teams to forecast, coordinate and optimize all inbound and outbound goods and materials from our warehouse.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Sales and Production to schedule outbound shipments, book freight carriers, and adjust schedules based on customer demand, inventory, production, and carrier availability. (45%)
- Maintain an accurate shipping schedule and communicate status with internal teams and external customers, carriers, and packaging suppliers. (25%)
- Develop carrier and supplier partnerships that improve freight and packaging-material efficiency and help minimize costs. (20%)
- Coordinate with Operations and QA to prepare shipping documents, including lot numbers, COO, COA, packing lists, BOLs, and shipping labels; verify returned paperwork and support billing, customer returns, and packaging receipts. (5%)
- Perform other job-related duties as needed. (5%)
This position requires the ability to prioritize tasks on-the-fly and coordinate details in order to provide superior service to our customers. This role is a key position in our daily business operations and reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Additonal information:
- Work is primarily office-based with occasional warehouse exposure and required food-safety practices, including hair and beard nets when applicable. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive hand use; lifting or moving up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and at least five years of related applied experience.
- Experience in logistics
- Experience negotiating freight scheduling and booking, including timing, terms, and rates.
- Experience forecasting packaging-material needs and working with suppliers on price and terms.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint for planning, scheduling, and communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook
- Superb organizational and project management skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
