Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Sushi Chef Helper to assist in the preparation and presentation of sushi dishes on Sundays. This vital role supports our culinary team by ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency. As a Sushi Chef Helper, you will contribute to creating a vibrant dining experience by helping with food preparation, ingredient handling, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment. Responsibilities
- Assist the sushi chef in preparing ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support food preparation activities such as assembling sushi rolls, portioning ingredients, and setting up workstations
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards in handling raw fish and other ingredients
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area before, during, and after service
- Help with food handling procedures to ensure freshness and quality of all sushi items
- Follow safety standards in production to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment
- Support the team during meal service by replenishing ingredients and assisting with plating as needed
Skills
- Previous experience in food industry roles such as dietary aide, restaurant, or catering is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and handling procedures
- Proficiency in knife skills, slicing techniques, and food preparation methods specific to sushi making
- Experience with menu planning, food service, and kitchen operations is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high safety standards in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with culinary techniques related to seafood preparation and meal assembly
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, safety, and quality standards
