Summary
SRP is seeking a motivated student intern to support our teams while gaining hands‑on experience in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world projects that support SRP’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study. The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP’s operations and culture. The Fleet Services student intern will gain hands-on experience working in a professional fleet maintenance shop environment while supporting the inspection, maintenance, and repair of utility vehicles and equipment. This internship is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades, automotive technology, or related field.
What You'll Do
Support/observe with routine vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.
Support/observe preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid checks, tire inspections, cleaning, and basic vehicle servicing.
Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
Assist with inventory management, tool organization, and parts handling.
Learn and follow safety procedures, shop practices, and operating standards.
Perform general labor, cleaning, and support tasks as assigned.
Work both inside the maintenance shop and outdoors around vehicles and equipment.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college degree-seeking program.
Interest in careers in skilled trades, automotive technology, diesel technology, mechanics, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of automotive systems is preferred but not required.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment as needed.
Ability to work safely in a shop environment and outdoors in various weather conditions.
The Student Intern Program requires participants to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled hours may vary based on departmental needs and hiring manager’s discretion, provided hours worked remain within the 15–40 hour weekly range.
Student Interns must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree from an accredited college or university.
