The College of Physicians of Philadelphia (the “College”) is a key convener for medical and public health professionals in the Greater Philadelphia region. Founded in 1787 to “lessen human misery,” it is one of the oldest professional organizations in the country, with over 1,000 active Fellows. The College is home to the Mütter Museum, the Historical Medical Library, and the Centers for Public Health and Education. Position Summary
This position is responsible for instructing the Museum’s weekly after school STEM program aimed at high school students, the Wohlreich Junior Fellows (“WJF”) Program. The Assistant Museum Educator will deliver lesson plans and curriculum provided by the Senior Manager of Behavioral Health and After School Programs. This position will also assist the Senior Manager of Museum Education in delivering programming for groups that visit the Mütter Museum, including field trips and private groups. Instructional settings will include both classroom sessions and special Museum events.
Primary Responsibilities
· Represent the College and its Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library in a professional manner to Museum guests and external partners.
· Collaborate with WJF leads to develop and deliver lesson plans to WJF students as primary instructor of a year-long, weekly after-school program.
· Support the Center for Education in delivering classroom sessions for high-school field trip groups and other external clients.
· Provide interactive educational offerings during weekday business hours, such as pop-up exhibits, that make the Education Collection available to the general public.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor's degree in museum studies, education, or a related field, such as history or biology. Master's degree preferred.
· Experience managing a classroom at the middle- or high-school level.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience providing front-of-house customer service, including professional communication and strong, proactive troubleshooting skills.
· Experience leading informal education sessions for age-diverse groups.
· Knowledge of or interest in related fields such as biology, medicine, history, anatomy, and/or physiology.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
· Ability to work on-site at the College.
· General open office environment with moderate noise (e.g., computers and printers, light foot traffic from visitors and guests).
· Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is necessary.
· Position requires face-to-face interaction with staff members and visitors (in person and remote), the ability to converse and communicate effectively, and the ability to document conversations and interactions in writing.
· Position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle and feel, reaching with hands and arms.
· Position requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision, as well as the ability to focus.

Background check will be required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
Job Classification and Schedule
· Full-time, Non-exempt.
· Salary range is $50,000 - $55,000.
· Position is as-scheduled, with flexibility to accommodate after-school and evening programs, with advance notice.
· Position is expected to contribute 35 hours per week, with an unpaid paid 60-minute lunch break each day.
· Some atypical work hours may be required.
