Matt’s House Night Shift Shelter Supervisor Position
The Night Shift Shelter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of Stewpot's Matt's House, ensuring a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for women and children experiencing homelessness during nighttime hours. This role involves supervising volunteers, providing direct support to residents, and implementing program policies and procedures.
We are seeking female candidates for the position of Part Time Shelter Supervisor. This position requires interactions with women and children in a residential environment and is a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) reasonably necessary to the normal operation of our business (as permitted under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964).
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all guests and volunteers, ensuring a high standard of care and support for all.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for women and children, addressing any issues that arise during the night.
- Complete guest admission intakes, facilitate orientation of new guests, assign room and ensure all necessary admittance forms are complete.
- Provide ongoing support to current residents.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Document incidents and report any significant issues to the Program Director.
- Coordinate with external agencies and resources to provide residents with additional support services as needed.
- Conduct regular checks of the facility, including rooms and common areas, to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Participate in trainings and staff meetings as required.
- Support the development and implementation of programs aimed at enhancing the well being of residents.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education or training in social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a social services or shelter environment.
- Strong understanding of working with the underserved. Must possess skills to be empathetic, non-judgemental, supportive, respectful and empowering in working with clients.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Age Requirement
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age to be considered for the position.
Shift Hours
- (Part Time) 6:30 pm – 6:30 am, Friday and Saturday nights weekly
