Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and dependable Driver to assist with transporting a 14-year-old safely and reliably. This role involves driving your personal vehicle from school, home in the East Bay hills, and afternoon activities in the Oakland/Berkeley area. The ideal candidate will have professional driving experience (Uber, Lyft, bus transport, taxi, chauffeur, etc.) and live/work in the Oakland area. The ideal candidate will be kind, on-time 100% of the time, responsive, and committed to maintaining the highest driving and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a personal vehicle to transport a teenager for 3-4 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. Pick-up is at 3:15 in Oakland on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and (some) Fridays and at 2:30 on Wednesdays. You will transport home and then pick up from home to activities at designated times, all within the immediate Oakland area. There will be significant down time and you will be paid for that time.
- Follow all state transportation regulations and traffic laws to ensure safe travel at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of your vehicle at all times.
- Communicate effectively with the parents regarding schedules, route changes, or any concerns during trips.
- Ensure the safety of the passenger by adhering to all safety protocols, including proper seatbelt use and distraction-free driving.
- Be 100% punctual, reliable, and flexible to accommodate changing schedules or bad traffic.
Skills
- Experience as a driver, shuttle driver, bus driver, or similar role involving transportation of passengers with a perfect safety record.
- Timeliness – must be able to be on time for pick-up EVERYDAY
- Patience – there will be downtime and you need to be ok hanging out at Starbucks or the like during those times.
- Kindness – gentle communication skills to interact positively with your very low-key and easy passenger and their parents.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance basics to keep your car in good working order.
- Responsiveness – via text/phone when required. Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and responsible attitude.
