DIRECT DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGNER

THE ROLE
We're looking for a motivated Control System Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll work alongside our DDC Designers and Lead Technician to plan, execute, and commission building automation control system projects for a wide range of clients. This is a hands-on, in-person position based out of our Anchorage office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Complete full design packages using established company standards to meet project requirements, and generate the project database for each job.
- Review, analyze, and provide comments on specifications and drawings.
- Develop project plans and coordinate the resources needed for timely, cost-effective installation and completion.
- Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors, suppliers, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors, including scope, terms, and conditions, and oversee subcontractor payment and billing.
- Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials procured for assigned projects.
- Prepare engineering re-estimates and maintain project costs within budget while balancing customer satisfaction and financial results.
- Create project-specific start-up, checkout, and commissioning documentation, and assist with functional performance and endurance testing.
- Oversee the creation of system graphics.
- Maintain accurate project documentation including sequences of operation, as-built drawings, and commissioning records.
- Coordinate customer communication through all phases of the project, and attend job progress and commissioning meetings as required.
- Provide work direction, coaching, and on-the-job mentoring to System Technicians and System Designers.
- Prepare and pursue change orders and extras, and communicate project status, manpower forecasts, and remaining costs to management.
- Coordinate site-specific owner/operator training and send the warranty letter to the customer upon substantial completion.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and subcontractors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Associate's degree in a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in building automation, DDC systems, or a related engineering/systems role (HVAC, Electrical, Construction).
- Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
- Proficiency in DDC programming, system start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain access to State, Federal, Municipal, and Educational facilities (background check required).
- Valid Alaska driver's license.
- Bonus: Experience with Automated Logic, Honeywell or other BAS platforms.
