About the Role
Con Tech Building Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role is responsible for developing accurate and competitive project estimates for commercial construction projects throughout Northern and Central New York.
The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and enjoys solving problems. You'll work closely with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and clients to develop estimates that help position projects for success before construction even begins.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete project estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as needed.
- Identify scope gaps, potential risks, and value engineering opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Preconstruction, Project Management, and Operations teams during project planning.
- Prepare bid proposals and supporting documentation for submission.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical costs, and pricing information.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and owners.
- Lead project handoffs to the operations team following successful bids.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or 5+ years of field experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
