What We Want
The Interfraternity Council Advisor (Student Development Specialist II) is responsible for supporting the advising and administration of programs as part of the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) team. Serves as the primary advisor for the Interfraternity Council (IFC). FSL provides organizational support, advising, and training to approximately 60 fraternity and sorority organizations at Texas A&M to enhance the leadership development, civic engagement, health, and safety of chapter members.

Salary: $51,750/annually.
Professional Development: May be eligible for up to $2,800/year of departmental funding for professional development opportunities and conference attendance.

Additional Details: Ability to work nights and periodic weekends as needed including some overnight travel for conferences and retreats.
Responsibilities
Interfraternity Council (IFC) Advisor
Serves as the primary advisor for the Interfraternity Council (IFC). Is responsible for supporting the advising, coordination, administration, education, and training of programs for the fraternity and sorority community. Advises student leaders, chapter members, and chapters. Attends IFC meetings and programs. Attending chapter meetings, as needed. Maintains pertinent student records. Understands laws, policies, and procedures, and provides education and training for chapters. Enhance accountability and risk management practices. Ensures strong financial practices and provides support to IFC in understanding other infrastructure needs such as student travel, document reviews, inventory management, risk reviews, etc. Establishes and maintains essential communication channels with both educational and non-educational agencies.
Community Support
Coach a diverse portfolio that supports the operational health and development associated inter/national fraternity and sorority chapters – including goal setting, budgeting, alumni relations, risk management, peer accountability, and evaluating program effectiveness. Provide comprehensive education and training for fraternities and sororities that facilitates an appreciation and understanding of responsible risk prevention and management (i.e., local, state, and federal laws regarding alcohol, hazing, Title IX and other applicable issues impacting student organizations). Serves as a liaison between inter/national offices, the local chapter, and the University.
FSL Team Member
Supports initiatives within the Fraternity and Sorority Life team including goal setting and strategic planning, assessment, stakeholder management, development initiatives, and marketing. Keeps abreast of issues and best practices related to fraternity and sorority life. Serves as the lead coordinator for designated operational enhancements and initiatives for the office.

Required Education & Experience:
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field with one years' experience in student affairs work or related specialty area.
Experience as an advisor to Interfraternity, Panhellenic, Multicultural Greek, or National Pan-Hellenic councils.
Formal academic or organization advising training or risk management training.
Significant student group advising, leadership training, and experience in specific areas and duties described in this position description.
Ability to establish collaborations with on-campus academic and student affairs departments, community and inter/national partners.
Knowledge of the influence of college student development on student behavior and decision-making.
