American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a 885-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center and teaching hospital
-
Patient population includes general medicine diagnoses such as DM, GI, respiratory, renal, and wounds, with procedures including chest tubes, trachs, and lab draws
-
RN-to-patient ratio of 5-6:1; CNA ratio of 8:1

Centralized telemetry monitoring
-
EMR: Epic (experience noted); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell
-
12-hour night shifts starting at 18:30, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call or call-back requirements
-
Floating to other Med/Surg units required
-
Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
-
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele (MST) experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency with chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, drains and tubes, and PCA pumps
-
Experience managing drip medications including Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin
-
Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
-
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to work collaboratively in a high-stress environment

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Provide direct and indirect patient care to a general medicine population on a Med/Surg Tele unit
-
Department support includes CNAs, Receptionist/HUC, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, Rapid Response Team, RT 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, and Intensivist 24/7
-
Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
