Position Summary
The Strategic Business Developer is responsible for driving business growth by identifying, developing, and closing business opportunities while building strong client relationships. The position combines business development, client engagement, and strategic talent alignment to deliver high-value services. The ideal candidate is highly driven, relationship-oriented, and experienced in selling technical services such as engineering, validation and regulatory compliance solutions.
This role operates at a strategic level, directly impacting company revenue growth and market expansion. The Strategic Business Developer will manage multiple client relationships and opportunities simultaneously, with a strong focus on long-term partnerships and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identify and develop new business opportunities within pharmaceutical, medical device, and manufacturing sectors.
2. Develop and expand strategic networks through industry contacts, including current and prospective clients, candidates, professional associations, trade organizations, and internal stakeholders, to generate qualified business opportunities.
3. Develop and maintain a strong professional network across industry contacts, including clients, candidates, and strategic partners, to identify new business opportunities and support talent pipelines.
4. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and executives.
5. Proactively engage with clients through on-site visits and virtual meetings across Puerto Rico to understand business needs, identify opportunities, and strengthen relationships.
6. Leverage social and professional platforms (e.g., LinkedIn) to identify potential projects, decision-makers, and market opportunities.
7. Partner with internal recruiting and technical teams to align candidate pipelines with current and future client demands.
8. Collaborate with field management and supervisors to understand project needs, resource requirements, and technical specifications in order to support business development efforts.
9. Lead the full business development cycle: prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
10. Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop customized service proposals aligned with client needs.
11. Support proposal development by ensuring alignment between client requirements, candidate qualifications, and service capabilities.
12. Contribute to the continuous improvement of recruiting and staffing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed to market.
13. Maintain visibility of active opportunities, candidate pipelines, and client needs through structured tracking and reporting.
14. Facilitate coordination between candidates, hiring teams, and Human Resources to ensure a smooth onboarding process when supporting business-driven placements.
15. Promote and support the use of digital tools and platforms to improve sourcing, pipeline management, and client engagement.
16. Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning.
17. Manage and grow existing client accounts by identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
18. Track and report sales pipeline, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
19. Represent the company in industry events, networking activities, and client meetings.
20. Foster a high-performance, solution-oriented mindset, maintaining professionalism and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
21. Ensure alignment between client expectations and service delivery teams to maintain high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in business development, sales, recruiting, or account management within professional services in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical devices, manufacturing).
- Strong understanding of regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO) and the dynamics of engineering and validation services.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to understand and translate technical requirements into business opportunities.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Experience meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Ability to manage and grow a sales pipeline.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Must possess a valid Puerto Rico driver’s license and maintain reliable access to a personal vehicle to support regular client visits, on-site meetings, and business development activities across the island.

- Proven ability to identify, develop, and convert business opportunities into revenue-generating engagements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Demonstrated experience in client relationship management, including building trust, influencing stakeholders, and managing expectations.
- Strong sourcing and networking capabilities to identify both business opportunities and qualified talent aligned with client needs.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (verbal and written), with the ability to present and negotiate effectively.
- Working knowledge of employment practices and general labor regulations.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, clients, and opportunities simultaneously.
- Self-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a consultative approach to client engagement and problem-solving.

- Fully bilingual (English and Spanish). Must speak Spanish fluently (native).

- Able to travel, or commute, frequently and visit clients.
- Available to start as soon as possible.
