Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, with experience working across diverse patient populations. This role offers an opportunity to deliver comprehensive mental health services in a collaborative environment, utilizing advanced clinical skills to improve patient outcomes. The PMHNP will work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care tailored to individual needs. The candidate will work on a per. diem basis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and diagnostic assessments, utilizing clinical research and physiology knowledge.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with DEA regulations and collaborative practice agreements, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans.
- Administer psychotherapy interventions and utilize telehealth experience to reach patients in various settings.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines such as internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health to develop integrated treatment strategies.
- Monitor patient progress through medical documentation and electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to promote wellness and recovery.
- Participate in discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to ensure continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute settings.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards while managing sensitive medical records and ensuring confidentiality.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with current licensure in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine.
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health interventions.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Simple Practice,
- Experience with medical documentation is essential.
- Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding for diagnoses (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across specialties such as occupational health, infectious disease care, and acute pain management.
