The Adult Family Home Council’s mission is to improve the lives and well-being of vulnerable adults through the support of Adult Family Homes. The Council is seeking a Marketing and Outreach Manager to help increase public awareness of adult family homes as a long-term care option.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Digital Technology, this position will plan, coordinate, and evaluate advertising and outreach campaigns across digital and traditional media. A central goal of the role is to increase awareness and consideration of adult family homes among private-pay consumers, families, caregivers, and referral partners—expanding opportunities for adult family home providers alongside Medicaid-funded placements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on media buying experience and can manage campaigns from planning and audience targeting through placement, scheduling, performance analysis, and reporting. The position will also support AFHC’s social media, email and SMS campaigns, and WordPress website.
Primary Responsibilities
Advertising and Media Buying
- Develop and implement advertising campaigns that increase awareness of adult family homes among consumers, families, caregivers, and referral sources.
- Plan and purchase advertising across digital and traditional media channels.
- Research audiences, markets, publications, platforms, and media opportunities.
- Negotiate advertising placements, pricing, schedules, and added-value opportunities when appropriate.
- Manage paid social media, search, display, print, radio, outdoor, and other advertising campaigns based on organizational goals and available resources.
- Coordinate advertising creative, specifications, deadlines, approvals, and placement.
- Monitor campaign budgets, pacing, performance, and return on investment.
- Maintain organized records of advertising agreements, schedules, invoices, creative assets, and results.
- Recommend adjustments based on campaign data, audience response, and emerging opportunities.
Public Outreach and Market Development
- Help develop outreach strategies that position adult family homes as a trusted long-term care option.
- Increase awareness among private-pay consumers and the people who help families make care decisions.
- Build relationships with relevant community organizations, referral partners, media outlets, and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to reach older adults, people with disabilities, families, caregivers, health care professionals, and community partners.
- Support outreach materials, presentations, campaigns, and public education initiatives.
- Ensure public-facing information accurately represents adult family homes and AFHC’s role.
Social Media
- Assist with managing AFHC’s social media presence and content calendar.
- Schedule and publish approved organic social media content.
- Plan, place, monitor, and optimize paid social media campaigns.
- Coordinate messaging and creative content across platforms.
- Monitor engagement and identify questions, trends, or reputational concerns that require staff attention.
- Track and report social media reach, engagement, traffic, conversions, and advertising performance.
Email and SMS Campaigns
- Build, schedule, test, and monitor email campaigns.
- Maintain campaign calendars and coordinate content, audiences, approvals, and deadlines.
- Support audience segmentation and contact-list management.
- Review campaign performance, including delivery, open, click, conversion, unsubscribe, and engagement trends.
- Help improve campaign effectiveness through testing and performance analysis.
- Support SMS campaigns when appropriate, following organizational procedures and applicable consent and communication requirements.
WordPress and Website Support
- Update and maintain approved website content using WordPress, including pages, posts, links, images, forms, and campaign landing pages.
- Coordinate website content and landing pages with advertising, social media, email, and SMS campaigns.
- Review website content for accuracy, accessibility, mobile usability, and broken links.
- Support basic website content organization and search engine optimization.
- Coordinate more complex website updates with the Director of Communications and Digital Technology or outside vendors.
- Monitor campaign-related website traffic and user activity using available analytics tools.
Planning, Reporting, and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Communications and Digital Technology to establish campaign priorities, budgets, messaging, and performance goals.
- Coordinate with AFHC staff, chapters, members, contractors, and outside vendors as needed.
- Develop regular reports that explain campaign activities, spending, results, and recommended next steps.
- Help establish measurable goals and tracking methods for outreach and advertising initiatives.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and brand consistency.
- Protect confidential organizational, member, and consumer information.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in advertising, marketing, communications, public outreach, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience planning and purchasing paid advertising.
- Experience managing advertising budgets, schedules, vendors, and campaign performance.
- Experience with digital advertising platforms, including paid social media.
- Experience building, scheduling, or managing email campaigns.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and project-management skills.
- Ability to interpret campaign data and translate results into practical recommendations.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when managing budgets, schedules, links, audiences, and public-facing information.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering and updating WordPress websites.
- Familiarity with Elementor, WooCommerce, online forms, website analytics, or search engine optimization.
- Experience with traditional media buying, such as print, radio, television, direct mail, or outdoor advertising.
- Experience with search, display, retargeting, or other digital advertising.
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts and content calendars.
- Experience with email marketing platforms and audience segmentation.
- Experience developing or managing SMS campaigns.
- Experience using analytics, campaign tracking, dashboards, or customer relationship management systems.
- Experience working in aging services, long-term care, health care, associations, nonprofits, or consumer education.
- Familiarity with Washington’s adult family home community or long-term care system.
- Experience working with agencies, designers, media representatives, or other outside vendors.

Compensation for this full-time in person position will range from $6,833 to $7,500 monthly depending on experience and qualifications. Competitive benefits package includes medical, dental, paid vacation and 401K
Schedule: This position is full-time, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm in Tumwater, Washington. Some travel will be required.
