Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Full-Time Bus Driver to join our team at District Wide. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students and staff to and from designated locations while ensuring a positive and secure environment. The Bus Driver will play a crucial role in maintaining the punctuality and safety of our transportation services.
Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus or other designated vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Transport students and staff to and from schools, events, and other locations as scheduled.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers while on the bus.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations, as well as district policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Manage student behavior on the bus and enforce safety rules.
- Document and report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on safety protocols and district policies.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a bus driver or in a similar transportation role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle challenging situations and maintain composure under pressure.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Physical ability to assist students as needed and perform routine vehicle maintenance checks.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
