Pay: $30.00 – $42.00 per hour DOE
FlexForce is currently recruiting an experienced CNC Programmer for a well-established industrial machine shop in the Baton Rouge area.
We are seeking a skilled programmer with hands-on experience using GibbsCAM and/or Mastercam who understands machining from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be capable of taking a job from blueprint and programming through setup, prove-out, machining, and final inspection.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using GibbsCAM and/or Mastercam
- Program CNC mills, lathes, turning centers, and multi-axis machining equipment
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications
- Create efficient toolpaths and machining sequences
- Determine proper tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds
- Perform or assist with machine setups and first-piece prove-outs
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues
- Modify programs as needed to improve cycle time, accuracy, and efficiency
- Work with CNC machinists, supervisors, and quality personnel to successfully complete jobs
- Inspect machined components using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment
- Maintain required tolerances and surface finishes
- Follow all shop safety and quality procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CNC Programmer or CNC Machinist/Programmer
- Hands-on GibbsCAM and/or Mastercam programming experience
- Strong CNC milling and/or turning knowledge
- Experience with 3-axis and multi-axis machining
- 5-axis programming experience is highly preferred
- Experience with Mazak, Haas, Hurco, TOS, or similar CNC equipment is a plus
- Strong blueprint-reading skills
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, workholding, and machining processes
- Ability to troubleshoot programs and machining issues independently
- Experience with large, complex, close-tolerance, or one-off industrial components is highly desirable
Ideal Background
Candidates with experience machining components for pumps, turbines, gearboxes, rotating equipment, petrochemical facilities, oil & gas operations, or other heavy industrial applications are strongly encouraged to apply.
This is not an entry-level CNC position. We are looking for someone who understands the entire machining process—not simply an operator who loads an existing program.
The ideal candidate can review a print, determine the machining strategy, develop the CNC program in GibbsCAM or Mastercam, select tooling, assist with setup and prove-out, and troubleshoot the job through completion.
Pay & Opportunity
$30.00 – $42.00 per hour DOE
Compensation will depend on CNC programming experience, GibbsCAM/Mastercam proficiency, machining knowledge, and overall skill level.
