The Plumbing Sales Associate will assist in the receiving, stocking, and pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall department cleanliness. Assist customers with plumbing fixtures, piping, and tools, while managing inventory and processing orders. Plumbing department sales requires mastering key technical knowledge, translating complex terminology into homeowner-friendly benefits. Whether you are helping a DIY customer at a retail counter or providing in-home estimates, understanding these core areas are vital.

General Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide a positive representation of MJK Sales & Feed, Inc -Ace Hardware
- Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
- Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
- Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
- Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
- Handle any customer complaint and ones that cannot be handled escalate to a member of management.
- Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
- Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
- Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
- Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
- Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
- Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stockroom and outdoor merchandise area.
- Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
- Assist with merchandise resets through the department.
- Aid Department Heads with price changes and special orders.
- Ensure signage is current throughout the department.
- Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to a member of the management team.
- Participate in store meetings.
- Be professional in appearance and actions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain deep knowledge of piping materials (PVC, PEX, copper, galvanized), fittings, valves, water heaters, and fixtures.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of valve types (ball, gate, globe, angle stop or straight stop).
- Maintain a deep knowledge of fittings and connectors.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of water heaters and filtration.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of common plumbing tools and diagnostics.
- Understand local plumbing codes and material requirements to ensure customers buy the correct, compliant items.
- Cut and thread pipe
- Complete up to date training on Ace Learning Place.
Education/Training
- High School or GED equivalent.
Experience
- Formal retail experience preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with plumbing parts and fittings.
- Experience using barcode scanners and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Physical Demands
- Standing for long periods of time, walking, lifting (up to 50lbs) and climbing
