We are seeking a seasoned Field Engineer with deep expertise in Protection & Control (P&C), Substation Automation, and SCADA systems to support critical power infrastructure projects. This individual will play a key role in commissioning, troubleshooting, integration, and modernization efforts across utility, transmission, distribution, and industrial power environments.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with GE relay platforms, Switzer systems, IEC 61850 / GOOSE messaging, SCADA HMI interfaces, and fiber optic communications within energized substations and automation environments.
- Commission, test, troubleshoot, and support P&C and substation automation systems in the field
- Configure and integrate SCADA systems, RTUs, HMIs, and automation platforms
- Support IEC 61850 implementations including GOOSE messaging and station bus architectures
- Perform relay testing, settings validation, and functional checkout of protection schemes
- Work with GE relays, Switzer platforms, and associated substation automation backbone infrastructure
- Support fiber optic communication systems, network switches, and substation communication architecture
- Execute field integration for automation upgrades, retrofits, and greenfield projects
- Conduct point-to-point testing, logic verification, and end-to-end SCADA validation
- Assist with outage coordination, startup activities, and energization support
- Interface directly with utilities, EPCs, field technicians, and engineering teams
- Produce detailed commissioning reports, redlines, and turnover documentation
- 5+ years of experience in Substation Automation, P&C, or SCADA Engineering
- Strong hands-on field experience within utility or industrial power environments
- Expertise with:
- SCADA and HMI integration
- Fiber optic communication systems
- Substation networking and automation backbone infrastructure
- Experience commissioning substations and automation platforms
- Strong understanding of relay logic, communication protocols, and protection schemes
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Protection schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Network architecture drawings
- One-lines and three-lines
- Utility, renewable energy, transmission, or data center power experience
- Experience with SEL, DNP3, Modbus, and Ethernet-based communication systems
- Familiarity with NERC/CIP environments
- Prior startup and commissioning leadership experience
- NICET or relevant electrical certifications preferred
- Field-based role with travel to substations and project sites
- Work in energized utility and industrial environments
