Business Analysts – Software Development (Tallahassee, Florida)
General Summary
The Florida Senate Office of Information Technology is hiring Business Analysts to help define, shape, and improve the software systems used across the Senate organization. Our team partners with stakeholders and development teams to design practical solutions, improve system usability and user experience, and deliver modern applications that support internal operations.

This position is based in Tallahassee, Florida and requires on-site work.
Financial Disclosure: Pursuant to sections 112.3144 and 112.3145, F.S., this position is required to electronically file a Form 1 –Statement of Financial Interests with the Florida Commission on Ethics within 30 days of hire.
Examples of Work Performed
Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and operational processes
Translate those needs into clear functional and technical requirements for software development teams
Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to evaluate solution options and recommend approaches that best meet business needs
Facilitate discussions to define system features and improve user experience
Gather, document, and manage application requirements
Develop use cases, user stories, and workflow documentation
Maintain and prioritize product backlogs using Azure DevOps
Support testing efforts by creating and executing test cases
Communicate project progress, obstacles, and outcomes to stakeholders and development teams
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
Business process analysis and requirements management
Application design concepts and system implementation approaches
Eliciting and documenting business and system requirements
Translating business needs into functional and technical specifications
Developing user stories, use cases, and workflow documentation
Using work-item tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar systems
Facilitate stakeholder discussions to define needs and solutions
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
Manage multiple assignments and priorities
Collaborate with development teams to support solution delivery
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or engineering and two years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post-secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling six years.
Preferred Qualifications
Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum
Microsoft Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work-item tracking systems
DevOps workflows
Business process analysis and workflow documentation
Working closely with software development teams to translate business needs into technical requirements
Candidates who do not meet every preferred qualification but have relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Salary
Anticipated hiring salary range: $80,000 - $95,000 annually, depending on qualifications and level of experience.
