Food Service Cook – Residential Mental Health Program
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, holidays included and occasional weekends as needed
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Food Service Cook to oversee daily meal preparation and kitchen operations for a Residential Mental Health Program. This position is responsible for planning menus, ordering food and supplies, maintaining inventory, and preparing nutritious meals for approximately 25 individuals daily, including residents and staff.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both cooking and organizing kitchen operations. The Food Service Cook plays an important role in supporting the health, wellness, and recovery of residents by ensuring meals are prepared safely, consistently, and in compliance with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and prepare daily meals for approximately 16 residents and program staff
Develop weekly menus that provide nutritious, balanced meal options
Order food, beverages, and kitchen supplies
Maintain inventory and ensure adequate stock levels
Receive and properly store deliveries according to food safety standards
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to established schedules
Accommodate special dietary needs as required
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
Complete meal counts, inventory logs, and required documentation
Monitor food quality, portioning, and proper food storage procedures
Follow all food safety, infection control, and agency policies

Prior cooking or food service experience required
Experience with menu planning, food ordering, and inventory management preferred
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to work independently and manage daily kitchen operations
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Dependable attendance and flexibility with scheduling
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food and kitchen supplies as needed
