As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Associate (PA-C) to join our Sports Medicine & Upper Extremity team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on treating shoulder, elbow, and sports-related conditions while practicing at the top of your license.
Position Overview
The PA-C will work closely with a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and upper extremity conditions. This is a dynamic role that includes outpatient clinic, surgical first assist, hospital rounding, and participation in an evening and weekend orthopedic call rotation.

Key Responsibilities
- First assist in orthopedic surgeries, including arthroscopic and open shoulder and elbow procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations.
- Evaluate and manage acute sports injuries, shoulder and elbow disorders, fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis, and other upper extremity conditions.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound evaluations, suture and staple removal, rehabilitation coordination, and patient education.
- Perform orthopedic procedures within scope of practice, including joint injections, aspirations, fracture management, splinting, casting, and wound care.
- Round on hospitalized orthopedic patients and coordinate inpatient care with the supervising surgeon.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and other members of the care team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
- Participate in the Physician Associate evening, weekend, holiday, and other assigned orthopedic call rotation, responding to urgent patient needs and coordinating care with supervising physicians.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the electronic medical record.
QualificationsRequired
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Associate program.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Current Oregon Physician Associate license (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Current DEA registration.
- Current BLS certification.
- Eligibility for hospital and ambulatory surgery center credentialing.
Preferred
- Orthopedic experience strongly preferred; new graduates with exceptional orthopedic or sports medicine clinical rotations will be considered.
- Experience assisting in orthopedic surgery.
- Experience with joint injections, casting, splinting, fracture management, and other orthopedic procedures.
- Experience participating in orthopedic call rotations.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to manage a busy clinic schedule independently while collaborating effectively with the orthopedic team.
