Make an impact supporting K–12 students as a contract Occupational Therapist (OT) in a vibrant Virginia school setting. In this rewarding role, you’ll work in close partnership with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to empower students with skills for daily living and academic achievement. Your expertise will guide the development and implementation of programs that foster student independence and success both inside and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct and consultative OT services based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Evaluating and assessing student abilities to determine therapy needs
- Crafting and executing individualized treatment plans tailored to each student
- Collaborating with teachers, special education professionals, and parents to maximize student progress
- Maintaining thorough documentation and ensuring compliance with state and district protocols
- Actively participating in IEP meetings to support goal-setting and progress monitoring
- Addressing areas such as fine motor development, sensory processing, and functional life skills for students of all ability levels
Desired qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Valid Virginia OT license or eligibility to obtain one
- NBCOT certification
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is a plus, though not essential
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
