EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports the management and care of forest resources with a focus on the Susquehanna River Islands. It plays an important role in maintaining recreational areas, supporting conservation projects, and assisting with forest operations. As a Forest Technician, you will perform the following duties:

Island Maintenance: Maintain campsites, improve access, remove debris, and support care of river island infrastructure

Resource Inventory: Collect data on plant species, island features, and tree measurements to support planning and management

Invasive Control: Manage invasive species and support habitat protection across river islands

Field Equipment Care: Maintain boating equipment and tools used for forestry and island work

Boundary Marking: Mark island boundaries and assist with deed searches to confirm ownership

Forest Operations Support: Assist with timber preparation, regeneration programs, and monitoring forest health issues

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Occasional overtime and travel may be required for training and emergencies.
