Heavy Truck Mechanic- San Diego, California

Compensation Range: $34- $42/HR $2,000 Sign-on Bonus
Forklifts Group in San Diego is looking for an experience Heavy Truck Field Service Technician!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heavy-duty truck and diesel equipment breakdowns; perform repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and provide accurate estimates for additional repair work.
- Perform repairs and replacements on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, steering, suspension, exhaust, and electrical systems.
- Complete routine preventative maintenance services, including inspections, oil and fluid changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, lubrication, and DOT compliance checks.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment and OEM software to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic system failures.
- Inspect components and systems to identify wear, damage, and necessary repairs while ensuring vehicles meet manufacturer and regulatory specifications.
- Review completed repairs and maintenance findings with customers, communicating recommended repairs and preventative maintenance needs. Provide repair estimates as necessary.
- Utilize mobile service and work order management systems to document repairs, record labor and parts usage, obtain customer signatures, and complete service tickets accurately.
- Provide daily status updates to service managers and dispatch personnel regarding repair progress, parts requirements, and customer concerns.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to all company safety policies and industry regulations.
- Respond to road service and emergency breakdown calls as needed to support customer operations and minimize equipment downtime.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical school training, diesel technology certification, or equivalent vocational education preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience as a Heavy Truck Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Fleet Mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, hydraulics, and computer-based diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical schematics.
- Experience performing DOT inspections and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.

- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., work in varying weather conditions, and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
