Job Title: Millwright Apprentice (Contract Position)

We are currently seeking a Millwright Apprentice for a contract opportunity at a steel mill facility in Baytown, Texas.
Position Overview
This is a hands-on contract role focused primarily on new construction machinery installation and coupling alignments in an industrial steel mill environment. The candidate must be NCCER certified and ready to work in a fast-paced, safety-focused setting.
Schedule
- Now through August 1st: 6 days on / 10 hours per day (6-10 schedule)
- August 1st through approximately September 15th (45 days): Turnaround schedule – 7 days on / 12 hours per day (7-12 schedule)
- Possibility of extension beyond the initial turnaround period based on project schedule and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, assembly, and alignment of industrial machinery and equipment
- Perform coupling alignments using industry-standard methods and tools
- Work with journeyman millwrights on precision mechanical tasks
- Follow all plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, and confined space procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
Requirements
- NCCER Certification (required)
- Previous experience as a Millwright Apprentice or in industrial mechanical work preferred
- Ability to work long hours and extended schedules during turnaround periods
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Reliable transportation to the Baytown site
- Steel mill or heavy industrial experience is a plus
What We Offer
- $28.58 per hour
- Overtime paid after 40 hours per week
- Lots of overtime available, especially during the 7-12 turnaround period
