Florida HVAC Institute is a career training institution dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in the skilled trades. We are seeking an experienced HVAC professional who is passionate about teaching and mentoring students entering the HVAC industry.
Position Summary
The HVAC Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory training to students enrolled in our HVAC program. This position prepares students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional habits needed for entry-level employment in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) industry.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach HVAC theory and practical applications in both classroom and laboratory settings.
- Demonstrate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with the program curriculum.
- Evaluate student progress through quizzes, exams, laboratory exercises, and practical demonstrations.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety standards in the classroom and laboratory.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instructional materials.
- Provide students with guidance, encouragement, and professional mentoring.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training, and other institutional activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on HVAC industry experience.
- Current EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Strong knowledge of residential HVAC installation, service, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach technical concepts to students with varying levels of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
- NATE Certification or other HVAC industry certifications.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in HVAC or a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely demonstrate HVAC equipment and tools in a laboratory environment.
