Health Unit Coordinator
Monday – Friday: Primary Hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; includes every other weekend and rotating holidays
Join our team and help support quality resident care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical and administrative support to the Nursing Department while maintaining accurate resident records and coordinating communication between departments, physicians, residents, and families.
Responsibilities
· Answer phones and relay messages professionally
· Maintain and organize resident medical records and nursing forms
· Schedule appointments, transportation, and offsite physician visits
· Assist with staffing coordination and call-ins
· Prepare transfer, discharge, and physician paperwork
· Enter immunizations and update resident information
· Support nurses, physicians, and nurse practitioners during visits
· Communicate resident transfers, discharges, and room changes to appropriate departments
· Assist reception and Medical Records as needed
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Previous clerical, healthcare, or secretarial experience preferred
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills
· ICD-10 coding experience with medical terminology knowledge preferred
· Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel
· Ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions
· Must be at least 18 years old
